Swimming pool

My first field trip was to the swimming pool and it was also my last. My students thought it would be really funny to push me in the pool and it was really funny but I was all wet.

Buddhist Temple

Yes I know I haven't posted anything in a very long time but I've been busy. So a while ago my friend Jaime and I went to a Buddhist Temple, I was really cool. The outside of the building was all hand painted and it was so beautiful. We went inside the main meeting room where a lady showed us how to bow and what all the statues and paintings meant but we couldn't take pictures inside.

Chuncheon International Mime Festival

Yes I know I haven't posted anything in while and no I wasn't busy I was just being lazy. Anyway, a couple of weeks ago was the Chuncheon International Mime Festival. It lasted a week and there were events everyday all over town, even an all night party on one of the islands. I went down town the opening weekend and saw some of the opening street performances, and it really shouldn't be called a Mime Festival but a Theater Festival. It was really cool I saw a parade Chinese dragon dancers and drummers, people dancing on the side of a wall, and some other stuff that I didn't take pictures of. And I have never seen so many foreigners in Chuncheon.

Planting rice/Picnic/Teacher's Day

Today was a very busy day, we went on a field trip to a farm compound thing were we planted rice and played in the mud...and yes I was in the mud along with the kids. After the romp in the mud, we had a picnic which was fun and yummy : ) When everything was cleaned up, we went across the street to a little museum where we got to see how they planted and harvested rice along long time ago. But the best part of the day was that it was also Teacher's Day. My students gave me: 2 small baskets of flowers, 1 glass thing of fake flowers, 1 bouquet, Aveda shampoo and conditioner, hand made soap, make-up from Lancome Paris, a parasol, a little key chain thing, and a bunch of cards. Then after we got back from our day's adventure we got 3 pizzas and 2 salads delivered, then 2 cakes, 2 pies, and a bunch of rices cakes were all sent to the school as gifts from parents...oh the joys of teaching rich kids : )

Hwacheon BBQ

This past Sunday I went with some people up to Hwacheon which is about 20 minutes from the DMZ, for a BBQ. However, because of bird flu and mad cow the BBQ was limited to pork. It was a lot of fun and the bus ride north was great. Everything was green, and the rice paddies were being planted and the bus was disinfected twice for bird flu. Since Hwacheon is so close to the DMZ there is a strong military presence, on the bus we passed several sections on the road that are rigged to explode if the North invades and about a stones throw away from where we were eating there was an old bunker with razor wire and an old helmet.

Jungdo Picnic

On the third, I went with a bunch of people to an island in a lake for a picnic. It was a lot of fun and really beautiful. The really fun part was play with people's dogs all day. : )

Field Trip to the Broadcasting Station

Last Friday we went on yet another field trip, this time to the local broadcasting station. It was kinda cool, they talked to the kids about some stuff but I didn't know what they were saying. The kids got to see themselves on screen which was cool...I guess.
